In November 1967, Manitowoc native Reinhart Ebert returned from 13 months service in Vietnam, and needing something to do with his time he and a friend attended an auction where he bought a few antiques. The rest, as they say, is history. Millions of miles, thousands of auctions, and many years later, Ebert’s has grown into one of the largest and most diverse shops around. With three huge warehouses neatly stacked to the rafters makes this place an amazing antiquing experience. THE FOUNDER
Reinhart Lawrence Ebert was born on March 13, 1945 in Manitowoc to Reinhart and Anna (Brandel) Ebert. He was a 1964 graduate of Lincoln High School. He served his country in the United States Army from 1965-1967, spending 13 months in Vietnam. Reinhart had a passion for antiques and was the proud owner and operator of Ebert’s Antiques for 57 years.
Reinhart Ebert passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Froedtert Holy Family Memorial Hospital.
Reinhart is survived by his love and best friend: Sally Reid; brother and sister-in-law: Stephen (Linda) Ebert; niece: Odette Balza; and great-nephew: Jake Balza. He was preceded in death by his parents: Reinhart and Anna Ebert; sister and brother-in-law: Sandra (Dennis) Todl; and nephew: Dennis Todl.
